Principle and Use of Glass Reactor

Glass reactor is an ideal equipment for modern chemical sample experiment, biopharmaceutical and new material synthesis, and it has a wide range of uses in laboratories. The glass reactor is used to stir and react under normal pressure or negative pressure in a closed container at the set constant temperature, and can control the evaporation and reflux of the reaction solution. Generally there are single-layer glass reactors and double-layer glass reactors(Jacketed glass reactors).

Use of single-layer glass reactor:
The single-layer glass reactor can be used for high temperature reaction (the highest temperature can reach 300 ℃), and can also be vacuumed to perform negative pressure reaction. The single-layer glass reactor can perform various solvent synthesis reactions under constant temperature conditions. The reaction part of the instrument is a fully sealed structure that can be controlled, and can use negative pressure to continuously suck in various liquids and gases, which can also be used for distillation and reflux at different temperatures.

Working principle of single-layer glass reactor:
The reaction kettle body is directly heated by the silver film heating piece, so that the materials in the reactor are heated at a constant temperature, and stirring can be provided. The materials are reacted in the reactor, and the evaporation and reflux of the reaction solution can be controlled. After the reaction is completed, the cover and motor part of the single-layer glass reactor are mechanically lifted (electric lift is optional), and the kettle body can be rotated 360 degrees to facilitate the dumping and discharging the materials.  The operation is extremely convenient.

Use of double-layer glass reactor:
The double-layer glass reactor with inter-layer can be used for both high-temperature reaction (the highest temperature can reach 300℃) and low-temperature reaction (the lowest temperature can reach -80℃). The double-layer glass reactor can be vacuumed to do negative pressure reaction. The double-layer glass reactor can be used for normal temperature stirring reaction, high temperature reaction, negative pressure vacuum distillation reaction, separation extraction, distillation reflux reaction, and concentration reaction.

Working principle of double-layer glass reactor:
The reaction solvent can be put into the glass inner layer for stirring reaction, and the inter-layer can be connected to different cold and heat sources (refrigerant, hot water or hot oil) for cyclic heating or cooling reaction. Through the inter-layer of the double-layer glass reactor, inject hot solvent or cooling medium at constant temperature (high or low temperature) to heat or cool the materials in the reactor at a constant temperature. At the same time, the stirring reaction can be carried out under normal pressure or negative pressure according to the requirements of use. The materials are reacted in the reactor, and the evaporation and reflux of the reaction solution can be controlled. After the reaction is completed, the materials can be discharged from the port at the bottom of the kettle, and the operation is extremely convenient.

In the reaction of different media in a glass reactor, first check whether the media corrodes the main material. The glass reactor must be specially customized for violent instant reactions that produce a large amount of gas or high-temperature flammable and explosive chemical reactions, and reactions that are high pressure or high temperature or use medium containing chloride ions, fluoride ions, etc. that cause severe corrosion to stainless steel.
