Reasonable installation and correct operation are the prerequisites for ensuring the stable operation of jacketed glass reactor. In the process of jacketed glass reactor operation, some aspects are actually very easy to be overlooked. The following are several aspects that need attention.
1. Insulation
Due to the thin interlayer thickness of double-walled glass reactors, their thermal insulation performance is poor. Insulation materials are required for both high and low temperature applications. The glass reactor body and the liquid-carrying pipes should also be wrapped with insulation materia. Paying attention to the thickness of the insulation layer to ensure optimal thermal insulation.
2. Temperature Control Medium
Generally, different temperature control media are selected as heat transfer media depending on the desired reaction temperature. When using low or high temperatures, it is important to select the appropriate medium, with viscosity being the key. Manufacturers typically provide heating media options tailored to their product.
3. Storage Location
Double-walled glass reactors are used as reaction amplification test equipment. They are constructed of glass, have stainless steel supports, and have casters. Therefore, careful storage location selection is required. During storage, please choose a flat place to store it and keep the center of the mechanical stirring consistent with the reactor, otherwise it will easily shake and cause a safety accident. In addition, it must be placed in a well-ventilated place.
4. Adding Materials
Because the double-layer glass reactor is a separate reaction stand and has a small pre-installed loading port, adding materials can be challenging. Solid reagents can be prepared as solutions and added to the reactor, while liquid reagents can be pumped into the reactor using the included water or oil pump. Furthermore, the amount of material added to the double-layer glass reactor should not be too large at one time. This should be evaluated based on the reaction temperature, reflux, and pressure, and the appropriate amount should generally not exceed two-thirds of the reactor volume.
