Useful Tips for the normal operation of glass reactor

Glass reactors have numerous applications, serving both high-temperature and low-temperature reactions. Furthermore, they can be evacuated to do vacuum reactions. Their unique design makes experiments safer and more convenient.

How to ensure the normal operation of laboratory glass reactor?

1. When conducting reactions with different media in a glass reactor, first determine whether the media corrodes the main material. For reactions that are instantaneously violent, produce large amounts of gas, or are highly flammable and explosive, as well as reactions under high pressure, high temperature, or with media that severely corrode stainless steel, special customization is required.

2. When filling with the reaction medium, the reactor should not exceed 2/3 of the liquid level.

3. Disassembly under pressure is strictly prohibited during or after operation! The reactor must not be operated under overpressure or overtemperature conditions.

4. For jacketed heat transfer oil heating, ensure that water or other liquids are not mixed in when adding heat transfer oil. Check the heat transfer oil level periodically.

5. If abnormal noises are heard inside the isolation jacket during operation, stop the reactor, release the pressure, and check the stirring system for any abnormalities. Regularly check the oscillation of the stirring shaft.

6. Connect the controller to the appropriate voltage. Do not reverse the live and neutral wires of the controller. A grounding wire is required! The controller itself is not explosion-proof, so it should be kept away from flammable and explosive environments such as oil and gas.

7. Once the final reaction temperature is determined, the temperature setpoint must not be changed during the heating process to avoid significant temperature overshoot.
